About Albedo

- 20-21 y/o (appearance-wise, and to public knowledge. Actual age between 200-400 y/o)- He/him- Bisexual, male lean- Charming, but extremely introverted. Be patient if you’d like him to open up more emotionally.- I will not disclose his full backstory here. The main points to be aware of are:♦︎ Albedo arrived in Mondstadt three years prior to the current time in the game.♦︎ His master, Rhinedottir, is friends with Alice (Klee’s mother) and sent him with a letter of recommendation. His alchemy is renowned and beyond that of even the Sumeru Akademiya.♦︎ I don’t portray him as immortal, but I do take the events of Shadows Amidst Snowstorms into account. Albedo is a homunculus - this is still unknown to most characters.

Albedo Study

A brilliant, charming, & mysterious young man known as the “chalk prince” is the chief alchemist, Albedo.On the surface, he is incredibly curious, jumping from one experiment to the next with calm confidence.
His voice is soothing, which adds to his kind of “dreamy” presence. (Side note: When I got him, he partially became my main because his voice calmed me down lol ty Khoi Dao)A constant theme with Albedo is his talent with creation, which is fitting as an alchemist. He is a genuinely creative person - when he’s not working, he’s drawing or painting. He has provided illustrations for Xingqiu’s book and the Inazuma publishing company even pushed him to work with other authors. So Albedo must be a pretty amazing artist! In his idle animations we see his sketches of a cecilia, a cat, and a mountain.

Albedo seems to be the type that’s hard to track down- being the captain of the Investigation team, he’s usually off somewhere (namely Dragonspine) on his own, which creates a general mystery about who he is as a person -And who is Albedo, really?It is heavily implied he was created through alchemy by his master, Rhinedottir (a friend of Alice, aka Klee’s mother). It’s stated she is not his birth mother, but that he’s been adventuring with her since he was born.His earliest memories are of training and travelling with his master. We are not given too much info on her, other than she taught Albedo alchemy that originated in Khaenri’ah, and that she was a strict and cold woman who gave him many assignments.When he woke one day, his master was gone and he was left with a task from her: to discover the truth and meaning of this world. Only then would she return.She also (in a note) told him to go to Mondstadt, where Alice was and she would basically vouch for Albedo and take him in. Seeing how Alice is a renowned (& dangerous) sorceress, others didn’t question Albedo’s ability. (She has also wanted Albedo to call her mom, but he doesn’t really see her that way, from what his voice lines imply.) In his story line it says KOF work only takes up 5% of his energy..

It’s obvious that Albedo is an introvert, and he’s not close with many characters. Sucrose is his assistant and also an alchemist. She seems to have a crush and speaks highly of him as her mentor. Albedo supports her alchemical endeavors. I’m not sure the feelings are mutual (no hate to the ship), mostly because social relationships of any sort are seen as complicated effort to Albedo (lol). I think he just doesn’t want to hurt feelings while he’s off focused on his experiments/investigations.He considers Klee his little sister, and it’s very cute. Timaeus is also Albedo’s assistant. Sucrose and Timaeus drive the point home that Albedo is a genius and what takes them weeks to figure out, he can do in moments.Other characters seem to be .. intrigued by the mystery of Albedo.
And who could blame them?

They don’t really know where he came from-and if they’re unaware of alchemy- he could really be carrying out something more sinister. Is he trustworthy?We see Rosaria is very suspicious of Albedo, keeping tabs on his whereabouts and spying on him.
Albedo doesn’t seem phased. And for the most part I don’t think he’s hiding anything .. he’s just working with a dangerous medium. And what if the truth of this world is darker than he thought? ..How far will he go to find it?He states at the end of his story quest “If I lose control.. destroy Mondstadt.. destroy everything.. can I rely on you to stop me?”My theory is that Albedo is sort of a human & “tool” for alchemy. He’s the chalk prince, after all. “Chalk is the spotless soil, and was used to make primordial man” (from his story)- chalk is a tool of alchemy.Physically he is human, but his destiny and purpose is to learn everything in the world. He’s almost perfect - a talented genius, and even Kaeya states everyone likes him (some more than others ;)) ). And I think Albedo is aware of his influence.Because he is well respected and kind, many listen to him. The ones who don’t kinda throw him shade, and he’s aware of that too. He doesn’t become defensive, he knows he could be a hazard to society.Even Venti states in a voice line about Albedo that what he’s doing could be dangerous (but that it’s mondstadts problem.. Nice one, Venti).So
Why was Albedo created?
Is he meant to be a weapon? Is he a ticking time bomb that will be overcome with power through dark alchemy?
It’s almost as if he’s icarus, flying too close to the sun in his search for knowledge.And yet.. he’s the opposite of destruction.His name is the beginning of change stage of alchemy, his constellation looks like a fetus, and a theme of “birth” (elemental burst line) and blossoming isotomas is prevalent.Is this more about rebirth? Is his master using him so khaenriah can be “born again”?

Another subject is his impression towards the traveler. He is notably interested, knowing they’re from a different world. But even after that, he says there’s more to it (serenitea pot line). One could argue it’s about the connection & emotion to others as finally having meaning to Albedo - that maybe it is an important piece of the truth puzzle he’s putting together. Or he has a crush. (We all hope it’s that)Being trained by his master, Albedo couldn’t have had a normal childhood. He has no where to really call home, no one to really call family.
Regardless, I believe he is content, but busy.
His troubles are not having enough time, that there’s always something to discover or experiment.
The world is vast, Albedo. If I could tell him anything it would be to slow down lol.
But he enjoys alchemy and his research, so whatever makes you happy, bby. Just don’t, ya know, destroy everything or die.
He’s really a very sweet person, sketching portraits of unknowing citizens and giving them the sketch as a gift. ❤️

Some other facts (& Headcanons):Albedo comes off as asexual or just undefined. He’s incredibly charming towards Aether/Lumine, like most of the characters.
He keeps to himself, so I hc he’s not physically affectionate right away, or if he is it’s very mild. I just don’t believe it’s ever been a concern to him - a result of having avoided social interactions for so long. Doesn’t mean he can’t get there, though! Albedo definitely has a somewhat dominant energy to him.Albedo is a night owl, he stays up late conducting experiments and forgets what time it is. This means he probably sleeps in late or just not much at all.He loves sweets & dessert because of the energy from sugar. He says he has a small appetite and doesn’t go out to eat because he can’t finish all the food, so he makes his own meals.Albedo doesn’t see himself as a genius and is very humble.
